December at Hatch *50 Artists under $50

During the month of December, Hatch Art House will be celebrating their 3rd anniversary by showcasing all 50 Hatch artists with gift giving art for $50 or less. As always, Hatch only represents Wisconsin based artists with the majority from the Madison area. Hatch also has an emphasis on upcycled and recycled material both in artwork and in the shop itself. The artist reception will be Friday, December 13th from 6-9pm. Many local artists will be in attendance to talk about their work. We’ll have sweet treats and festive drinks on hand.
This holiday season, remember to shop small businesses and stay local. Hatch features ONLY Wisconsin artists, 90% of which are from the Madison area. When you buy from Hatch you know you are buying local.

November Featured Artist; Joan Kennedy

The November featured artist is fiber and handbag artist, Joan Kennedy. Joan’s handbag shapes and motifs have traditionally been inspired by nature but recently, she’s been exploring shapes within the urban landscape. Joan is also incorporating industrial metal pieces into her work which balance out the upcycled wool she uses. Her work is part of the ancient tradition of creating beautiful but functional objects essential to daily life.
Joan’s work will be showcased November 1-30th with an artist reception Friday, November 8th from 6-9pm. Refreshments will be served.

October Featured Artist; Lisa Hepburn Ceramics & Gallery Night!

The October featured artist is Ceramics artist Lisa Hepburn. Lisa’s current work is informed by both a decades love pre-Colombian Mexican Pottery and a more recent obsession with all things mid-century modern. (A friend puts her design aesthetic this way: Mixtec meets Mad Men). Most of her work is built by hand with slab and coil methods. Most recently she has been experimenting with sculptural vase forms with unexpected negative space. While much of her current work is functional, she strives to create a sculptural sensibility in each piece. Above all, her work is meant to be touched.

Lisa will have her work showcased at Hatch Art House from October 1st-31st with an artist reception Friday, October 4th from 5-9pm coinciding with the city-wide MMoCA Gallery Night. Refreshments will be served along with an outside performance by singer/songwriter Karen Wheelock.
