Upcycled Art at Hatch

As many of you know, the deadline to the EcoSquared Art Show is November 21st. I thought I’d share with you some of the artwork in the gallery that incorporates upcycled materials. Upcycled is still a fairly new term, you can learn more here. And remember, the main criteria for Ecosquared is to use something upcycled, have it measure between 6″ square to 8″ square, and have it ready to hang on the wall. We are so excited to see what all of you creative Wisconsinites come up with! Please feel free to leave questions or concerns here in the comment section.

Celebrate!

Fall Gallery Night, 2012

Good times were had by the hundreds of people who came through the Hatch door last night. Thanks Hatch fans for a great turnout and overall wonderful Gallery Night! Each one just keeps getting better and better. All of the artists, myself included, really APPRECIATE your patronage… YOU are the reason Hatch is here!!!

Fall Gallery Night Celebrations

The featured artist for October is linocut artist, Juliet Darken… an illustrator, storyteller, designer, fine artist, and Madison native. She creates whimsical, yet sophisticated pieces with traditional relief printmaking techniques, sometimes with small additions of collage and graphite. This involves a complex process of reversing the original design, carving, and printing each color as a separate layer. In her opinion, the most important thing for people to learn is how to communicate, and she enjoys adding her personal visual language to the human conversation.
Juliet’s artwork will be showcased from October 1-31st. The artist reception coincides with the MMoCA citywide Gallery Night, October 5 from 5-9pm. Refreshments will be served.
