June Featured Artist: Kamryn Kay Boelk Of Permanent Baggage

The Hatch Art House June featured artist is jewelry and accessory designer, Kamryn Kay of Permanent Baggage. She describes her work as urban and edgy, with a soft bohemian flair, and creates a variety of work ranging from leather and metal jewelry to leather shoulder bags. “I have a great fondness for materials, texture, and color. I’m always trying to use these elements in a way that sort of juxtapose themselves…I love the slight battle that happens with this. To achieve this I tend to combine leather, metals, fabrics, gemstones, and laces. I like to make things that give off an inherent toughness but are still approachable with an underlying softness and femininity. A beautiful warrior, I guess you could say, which is a theme I feel many women can relate to or desire to exude. “
Kamryn will have her work showcased at Hatch Art House from June 1st-30th with an artist reception Friday, June 13th from 6-9pm. Refreshments will be served.

June Happenings at Hatch

The June featured artist is Mark Evans, gelatin (monotype) print artist. Most recently, Mark has been exploring relief printing. His latest body of work is executed using a gelatin plate, creating abstract and mildly representational monoprints. Gelatin printing is a form of monoprinting in which a gelatin slab is used as a printing `plate’ in conjunction with standard water soluble printing inks to create images. Very little pressure is required to make monoprints using this technique – no presses required.
Mark will have his work showcased at Hatch Art House from June 1st-30th with an artist reception Friday, June 14th from 6-9pm. Refreshments and good times will be served.

Also, on Friday June 21st, the summer solstice, Hatch will be host to 6 different musicians during Make Music Madison, a city-wide event! To see who’s playing and at which time search for Hatch under Venue on their website.  June 21st also happens to be the deadline for entry for the EcoSculpt Art Show! That gives you 2 weeks to make a sculpture! (or 3).  I put together a Pinterest page of ideas and here is the EcoSculpt info. The show will run for the month of July.

March Featured Artist; Rosy Hawbaker

Welcome to March! A month full of weather ups and downs, winter and spring, snow and rain, but also full of hope and sunshine, chirping birds and spring flowers!

Join us to celebrate the hopeful onset of SPRINGTIME with a fun evening at HATCH! Rosy Hawbaker is our featured artist and her artist reception is Friday, March 8th from 6-9pm. There will be adult beverages served and good times, too:)

The March featured artist is Madison designer and screen printer, Rosy Hawbaker of RosyMade Designs. Rosy has a passion for reusing and refreshing thrift store t-shirts and other items with quirky and fun screen printed designs… creating a “new” item.
Rosy says; “I figured out a way to combine my love of thrifting, art and recycling, and now I truly am in love with the work that I am producing. The majority of the work that I produce is made of recycled materials, so you can look cute, feel comfortable, and help the environment.”
Rosy will be showcasing her work at Hatch from March 1-31st.
