When you buy something from Hatch, you know it’s being produced locally. Our rule is that you must reside in Wisconsin to be a Hatch artist; although, the majority of our 75+ artists live in the Madison area. We have an emphasis on repurposing, upcycling and recycling… if we can keep things out of the landfill and give it a new life in art, we’ve done a great thing. We strive to offer something for everyone at affordable prices in a casual and creatively charged environment.
Nearly every year since 2012, Hatch Art House has hosted an art show with all of our goals at heart. Since Hatch is a small space, a small works art show seemed appropriate; thus the EcoSquared Art Show was born. With a theme of upcycled art along with affordable pricing, the EcoSquared show carries on the focus of Hatch Art House with a wider range of Wisconsin artists.
The show will run February 1st through March 31st, 2022, with an artist reception on Friday, February 4th 6-8pm. The deadline for entry is January 21st, 2022. The rest of the dates to know are listed on the calendar above and on the forms below.
The guidelines are listed on this printable page, which I encourage you to share with anyone you think would be interested. Entry is open to all Wisconsin based artists aged 18 and older. The show will be juried via images submitted through the entry form linked below mainly to make sure all entries follow the guidelines. As well as being a painter and dabbler of many other art forms, I was also a juror for the 2013 Art Fair Off the Square, the 2012 MMoCA Art Fair on the Square, and the MMoCA 2011 Holiday Art Fair.
If you’ve submitted your work to Hatch before, I strongly encourage you to enter this show! This is your opportunity to be a Hatch artist! Small SQUARE artworks….have fun creating!

Their shared studio space is equipped with screen-printing and letterpress equipment, and members’ art making practices include bookmaking, textile design, and other print methods. The cooperative was founded in 2011 with the goal of promoting a vibrant local printmaking culture by offering access to printmaking facilities and providing educational opportunities to the Madison community.
