For the month of November, Hatch Art House will be showcasing the artwork of local watercolorist, James Mahoney. James is a watercolor artist from Delafield whose love of the environment shows clearly in his landscape and bird paintings. You can follow his Instagram page here or Hatch Art House here. The artist reception will be Friday, November 4th, 2022 from 5-9 pm, and the show will run through November 30th.
For the month May, Hatch Art House will be showcasing the artwork of local potter, Alyssa Martz. Alyssa’s artist statement reads, “I’m a potter and ceramic artist working in Wisconsin’s scenic Driftless Region. My studio practice intersects rustic modern clay work and traditional folk aesthetics. I embrace the charm of the intuitive in my making process and relish all the little idiosyncrasies that develop in a hand-made object. Each piece celebrates human touch, be it a ruffled edge here, or a splotch of colored glaze there. My pottery is sure to bring a smile to your face and charm to your space.” The artist reception will be coinciding with the MMoCA Gallery Night, Friday, May 6th, 2022 from 5-9 pm, and the show will run through May 31st.
For the month November, Hatch Art House will be showcasing the artwork of local artist, Clark Rendall. His limited edition screen prints depict forms and patterns found in nature, while his landscape paintings could be described as both minimalist and impressionist. The artist reception will be coinciding with the MMoCA Gallery Night, Friday, November 12th from 5-9 pm and the show will run through November 30th.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since we opened our doors on December 3rd, 2010. It’s been a journey full of ups and downs and exciting twists and turns. And even with the difficulties of this past year, we can’t wait to see where the next 10 years take us. To celebrate our 10 year anniversary and embody the spirit of Hatch throughout the years, we’ve decided to put on an art show featuring the artists of Hatch!
The show will run from January 10, 2021, to March 10, 2021.
Participating artists: Rebekah Simensen, Christine Konen, JD Wolfe, Mary Pulliam, Ashley Megal, Gloria Van Dixhorn, Christina Thomas, Jay Solwold, Stephenie Purl Hamen, Lynn Lee, Molly Bandt, Tahlia Day, Peggy Furlin, Bruce Furlin, Jesse Brookstein, Erin Kessler, Tammy Schreiter
In other years, we would be celebrating an artist’s work with a Friday night reception. 2020 has obviously changed things, so instead of a party we are showcasing ninjagrl and her work through social media and of course, in the gallery for the entire month of October. We hope you stop by Hatch soon and see the entire collection in person. Our shopping protocols are easy- Wear a mask, use the provided hand sanitizer and distance yourself from others! Weekdays are slowest, so it’s a great time to stop in. If you’d like to purchase an item you see on social media all you have to do is respond or message us and we’ll set up an email invoice! It’s really simple and easy to do.
We would love it if you follow along via Instagram and/or Facebook!
ARTIST RECEPTION: Friday, January 10th, 2020 6-9pm
PICKUP ARTWORK: March 1st-4th, 2020.
As many of you know, here at Hatch Art House we have a few goals that we strive for on a daily basis.
When you buy something from Hatch, you know it’s being produced locally. Our rule is that you must reside in Wisconsin to be a Hatch artist; although, the majority of our 75+ artists live in the Madison area. We have an emphasis on repurposing, upcycling and recycling… if we can keep things out of the landfill and give it a new life in art, we’ve done a great thing. We strive to offer something for everyone at affordable prices in a casual and creatively charged environment.
In early 2012, Hatch embarked into the world of hosting art shows! Hatch being a small space, a SMALL WORKS art show seemed appropriate; thus EcoSquared Art Show was born. Also, an upcycling theme along with affordable pricing to continue with the Hatch emphasis. The show will run January 8th through February 29th, 2020, with an artist reception on Friday, January 10th. The deadline for entry is December 21st. The rest of the dates to know are listed on the calendar above and on the forms below.
The guidelines are listed in the printable forms, which I encourage you to pass on to anyone you think would be interested. This show will be juried mainly to make sure all entries fit into the scheme and follow the guidelines. As well as being a painter and dabbler of many other art forms, I was also a juror for the 2013 Art Fair Off the Square, 2012 MMoCA Art Fair on the Square and the MMoCA 2011 Holiday Art Fair.
If you’ve submitted your artwork to Hatch in the past, I encourage you to enter this show. This is your opportunity to be a Hatch artist! Small SQUARE artworks….have fun creating!
Please use this page for questions, concerns, and comments about the EcoSquared Art Show.
For the month of June, we are hosting “The Mug Show” with JD Wolfe Pottery! Lots of mugs and plenty of other functional ceramics created by Jennifer Wolfe. The artist reception will be Friday, June 7th, 6-9pm. Jen will be on hand to answer all your pottery questions! Refreshments will be served.
