Hatch celebrates 5 years!

During the month of December, Hatch Art House will be celebrating their 5th anniversary by showcasing all 50+ Hatch artists with gift giving art for $50 or less. As always, Hatch represents Wisconsin based artists with the majority from the Madison area. Hatch also has an emphasis on upcycled and recycled material both in artwork and in the shop itself. The artist reception will be Friday, December 4th from 5-9pm. Coinciding with the 1st Willy Street Holiday Walk! Many local artists will be in attendance to talk about their work. We’ll have sweet treats and festive drinks on hand.
This holiday season, remember to shop small businesses and stay local. Hatch features Wisconsin artists, 90% of which are from the Madison area. When you buy from Hatch you know you are buying local.

June Featured Artist: Erin Bowe

The June featured artist is Madison jewelry designer and metalsmith, Erin Bowe. Erin will be highlighting her new “Men’s Line” just in time for Father’s day. Money clips, tie clips, cuff links, keychains, rings and even ‘manly earrings’ are included in this new line. We will, of course, have her women’s jewelry line available as always. Erin is using a new technique for the money clips; “roller printing” is the process of embossing metal using a rolling mill and a die of some sort, like paper. Annealed (softened) metal is run through the rolling mill with the die to imprint the design on the metal.
The artist reception will be Friday, June 12th from 6-9pm with the show running for the month of June.

May Featured Artist; Lesley Numbers And MMoCA Gallery Night!

Our May featured artist is Madison illustrator and screen printer, Lesley Anne Numbers of Patchwork Printshop. Hatch will be showcasing her latest project; “Solstice Sketches”. Starting with the summer solstice and going through the winter solstice, Lesley made a drawing of a local plant almost every day. The drawings are pen and marker on recycled tea bags mounted on recycled 5″ x 7″ card stock. Lesley wanted to challenge herself and was inspired by the flowers in her own backyard to start this project. Hatch will also be showing her screen prints. “I find inspiration in children’s artwork, vintage textiles and illustrations, and all of the beautiful forms, colors, and patterns found in nature.”
The artist reception will be coinciding with the MMoCA Gallery Night, Friday, May 1st from 5-9 pm and the show will run May 1st through the 31st. More here.

Here is a piece about Lesley’s show in the Capital Times by Lindsay Christians.
