May Featured Artist: Helen Mary Beck & Gallery Night

The Hatch Art House featured artist for May is Helen Mary Beck. She is a mixed media artist working with watercolor on canvas highlighted with embroidery. With a background in art therapy, Helen is passionate about the importance of story-telling in art making. With her unique technique of combining watercolor with embroidery, Helen Mary Beck creates textured paintings that capture the imagery within science, beauty and nature. Beck’s contrast of the unpredictability of her bold watercolor on canvas combined with the meticulous detail of her embroidered patterns gives her work a striking individuality.
Helen’s work will be showcased May 1st-31st with her artist reception coinciding with MMoCA’s Gallery Night, May 2nd from 5-9pm.

April Featured Artist: Steve Wirtz

The Hatch Art House featured artist for April is paper mache sculpture, Steve Wirtz. Titled: “TAXidermy” in honor of the dreaded tax due date, April 15th, Steve has created trophy like, paper mache animal sculptures using old tax forms. In Steve’s words: “Finishing my taxes for the year is like landing a big fish, or bagging a big game trophy. It’s an accomplishment. They say nothing is certain except death and taxes. Well, I say all I know is life and taxes, because no animals were harmed in the making of this exhibit. I hope you enjoy it, and many happy returns.”
The artist reception will be Friday, April 11th 6-9pm and the exhibit will run from April 1st to April 30th.
