Hello, all you wonderful people! It’s time to nominate your favorite art gallery for the Best Of Madison Awards. It would mean so much to all of us at Hatch! We are entering our 8th year here on Madison’s east side and we continue to showcase many local artists with your continued support. During the nomination process, you can vote daily if you like! We would also appreciate a nomination for our sister shop, Hazel General Store, for Best Gift Shop! VOTE HERE! 🙂
April featured artist, Jenie Gao is a multi-medium artist. This month she will be showcasing her paintings and prints.
“Jenie Gao is an artist and printmaker specializing in the mediums of woodcut and ink drawing. Her work focuses on the interdependence of preservation and change. She discusses how the objects we choose to keep and places and images we associate ourselves with act as anchor points in our families, friendships, and relationships. The desire to anchor ourselves in familiarity contrasts with the need to grow amidst inevitably variable surroundings. At the same time, a grounded sense of identity enables further growth, by creating opportunities to connect with others and change along with our environment.”
Jenie’s artwork will be showcased at Hatch April 1st-30th with an artist reception Friday, April 14th 6-9pm. Refreshments will be served.
During the month of December, Hatch Art House will be celebrating their 4th anniversary by showcasing all 50 Hatch artists with gift giving art for $50 or less. As always, Hatch represents Wisconsin based artists with the majority from the Madison area. Hatch also has an emphasis on upcycled and recycled material both in artwork and in the shop itself. The artist reception will be Friday, December 12th from 6-9pm. Many local artists will be in attendance to talk about their work. We’ll have sweet treats and festive drinks on hand.
This holiday season, remember to shop small businesses and stay local. Hatch features Wisconsin artists, 90% of which are from the Madison area. When you buy from Hatch you know you are buying local.
