July Happenings at Hatch

This month at Hatch we are showcasing (our first ever) EcoSculpt Art Show for the entire month of July.

EcoSculpt is a small sculptures art show, with an upcycling theme along with affordable pricing. Every piece is under $200 and all artwork incorporates upcycled materials.

As always, Hatch only represents Wisconsin based artists with the majority from the Madison area.
The artist reception will be Friday, July 12th from 6-9pm. Most artists will be in attendance to talk about their work and refreshments will be served.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for  photos of the artwork in the show!

I’m also honored to be the judge for the Art Fair Off the Square this year! It is put on by the Wisconsin Alliance of Artists and Craftspeople (WAAC). All the artists involved must live in Wisconsin…just like HATCH! This is happening July 13th and 14th. I’ll be there on Saturday with my clipboard in hand; please say hello if you see me:)

June Happenings at Hatch

The June featured artist is Mark Evans, gelatin (monotype) print artist. Most recently, Mark has been exploring relief printing. His latest body of work is executed using a gelatin plate, creating abstract and mildly representational monoprints. Gelatin printing is a form of monoprinting in which a gelatin slab is used as a printing `plate’ in conjunction with standard water soluble printing inks to create images. Very little pressure is required to make monoprints using this technique – no presses required.
Mark will have his work showcased at Hatch Art House from June 1st-30th with an artist reception Friday, June 14th from 6-9pm. Refreshments and good times will be served.

Also, on Friday June 21st, the summer solstice, Hatch will be host to 6 different musicians during Make Music Madison, a city-wide event! To see who’s playing and at which time search for Hatch under Venue on their website.  June 21st also happens to be the deadline for entry for the EcoSculpt Art Show! That gives you 2 weeks to make a sculpture! (or 3).  I put together a Pinterest page of ideas and here is the EcoSculpt info. The show will run for the month of July.
