January 2013 UPDATE: The show is available for viewing! Stop in to check it out!
As many of you know, here at Hatch Art House we have a few goals that we strive for on a daily basis.
Mainly, when you buy something from Hatch, you know it’s being produced locally. Our rule is that you must reside in Wisconsin to be a Hatch artist. Although… the majority of our 40 artists live in the Madison area. We have an emphasis on repurposing, upcycling and recycling…if we can keep things out of the landfill and give it a new life in art, we’ve done a great thing. We strive to offer something for everyone at affordable prices in a casual and creatively-charged environment.
That being said, I’d like to announce that Hatch is embarking into the world of hosting art shows! I know… you are wondering where?! Hatch is a SMALL space! Well, how about a SMALL WORKS art show! AND… it’ll have an upcycling theme along with affordable pricing. We will dedicate at least two walls in the gallery, keep everything under $100, have all artwork sized between 6″x6″ to 8″x8″ square and of course, incorporate upcycled materials. Thus, EcoSquared. The show will run for the months of January and February 2013, with an opening AND a closing artist reception. This show will be limited to wall hanging art but another art show with 3-D art is in the works…stay tuned for that one! The deadline for entries is Wednesday, November 21st. The rest of the dates to know are listed on the PDF forms below.
The guidelines are listed in the printable PDF forms, which I encourage you to pass on to anyone you think would be interested. This show will be juried by myself (Tammy Schreiter) and one other Madison artist, Lynn Lee. As well as being a painter and dabbler of many other art forms, I most recently was a juror of the 2012 MMoCA Art Fair on the Square and the MMoCA 2011 Holiday Art Fair. Lynn Lee has a fondness for incorporating his “scraps” from various house projects into his paintings and mixed media artwork. He also was the owner of an art gallery in San Francisco…Seems like a perfect fit to me! I’d love to have everyone who enters get into the show… but space is always an issue. If you’ve submitted your artwork to Hatch in the past, I encourage you to enter this show. This is your opportunity to be a Hatch artist!
